第四十五劇季 秋季呈獻《聖荷西謀殺案》

紐約四海劇社11月上演得獎舞台劇《聖荷西謀殺案》

在紐約華埠成立並已經踏入第四十五劇季的四海劇社，今年首個劇目將公演香港得奬劇作《聖荷西謀殺案》，由劇團藝術總監黃澤基擔任導演，聯同劇社多位成員傾力演出。此劇是香港著名編劇莊梅岩代表劇作之一。她曾五度獲得香港舞台劇獎最佳劇本獎，足證這位年青劇作家的深厚功力。

佔有慾、嫉妒心、猜疑……誘發出一套驚心動魄的懸疑心理劇《聖荷西謀殺案》。故事發生在陽光明媚的美國加洲聖荷西，講述從香港移民到美國的Tang和Ling兩夫婦，在美國小鎮平靜生活了多年，過著平淡無事的生活，還正準備迎接新生命的來臨。直到一天，Ling的舊同學Sammy突然到訪，掀起兩夫婦積壓下來的內在分歧及潛藏已久的家庭矛盾，同時揭露一宗不可告人的殺人事件……

著名劇評人石琪讚賞：「此劇從現實日常生活出發，對白精彩，人物心理刻劃出色，尤其把夫妻暗戰描寫得妙趣横生，又有一發不可收拾的爆炸性。」

《聖荷西謀殺案》將於11月8, 9, 14, 15及16日，假座格蘭街466號, 亨利街藝術中心地下劇院以粵語演出七場，附英文字幕。

Four Seas Players opens their 45th Season with an award-winning psychological thriller MURDER IN SAN JOSE, written by Candace Chong Mui-ngam and directed by Jackie Huang, performed in Chinese with English subtitles.

Jealousy. Guilt. Paranoia. This intense psychological thriller will draw you into the hidden conflicts of three protagonists as it probes the layers of human emotions and relationships, between husband and wife, between old friends. An unexpected visit triggers a series of tragic events, exposing dark secrets. These irreversible turns quickly plunge into a spiral of suspicion, manipulation and humiliation.

The play premiered in Hong Kong to rave reviews and has had three sold-out runs. It swept four major awards at the 2009 Hong Kong Drama Awards, including Best Script, Best Director and Best Actress.

Chong Mui-ngam is a five-time Best Script Award winner in the Hong Kong Drama Awards. In 2003 she was given the Outstanding Young Playwright Award by the Hong Kong Federation of Drama Societies. In 2004, she received the Lee Hysan Foundation Fellowship by the Asian Cultural Council which enabled her to study in the US for one year. In 2011, she was given the Best Artist Award (Theatre) by the Hong Kong Arts Development Council.

第四十四劇季 春季呈獻《長夜無荒》

紐約四海劇社第四十四劇季春季劇目，將公演全新創作劇《長夜無荒》，由劇團資深成員李強編劇及擔任導演，聯同劇社十多位成員傾力演出。

《長夜無荒》講述六十年代中國著名京劇青衣方信菊，於全盛時期突然決定掛靴退休，從此不再踏足舞台。三十多年後現今已是許輝的他淡泊名利，在美國紐約唐人街一小樓閣教授業餘京劇班，衹得學生寥寥數名，教人唏噓。徒弟Jenny有見及此，試圖游說在電視台報告新聞的前度男友Alex為其師傅做一專題訪問，藉此增加知名度吸引多些新學員。Alex终於答應，有天帶同攝影師登門造訪，怎知許輝對此安排非常不滿，二人發生衝突，並且因此無意揭露許輝三十年前退隠舞台的秘密。

《 長夜無荒 》將於 6月21, 22, 28 及 29日，假座格蘭街466號, 亨利街藝術中心地下劇院上演六場，以粵語演出，附英文字幕。

Four Seas Players wraps up their 44th Season with a melodrama in two acts – NIGHTS WITHOUT YOU, written and directed by Patrick Lee, both in Cantonese with English subtitles.
Hui Fei is a famous Peking opera star in the sixties before the Chinese Cultural Revolution. One day in his prime he has abruptly decided to hang up his boots and has not performed in public since. Thirty years later he is now teaching a few amateur students of the art in a little studio in New York City Chinatown. Jenny, his favorite and most loyal student, hopes to help him attract more students, so she persuades her ex-lover Alex, a young, ambitious Chinese-American local TV reporter, to set up an interview for Fei to appear on local television. But when Alex shows up with the crew one afternoon, he and Fei sparks an unexpected culture clash. It is in this clash that unveils Fei’s soulful secret hidden for decades. Sometimes, when you open the door to the past, what you confront is your destiny.
